Trains delayed

The goods train has been halted here and priority given to passenger trains. Six trains were held up for up to 90 minutes on Tuesday evening after a goods train entered the wrong track after reportedly jumping the signal at the Ernakulam Town railway station. The Chennai Mail Express, Gorakhpur-Thiruvananthapuram Express and a passenger train each in either direction suffered a delay of up to 30 minutes, Railway sources said. The Thiruvananthapuram-Nizamuddin Express was detained for an hour while the Thiruvananthapuram-Bangalore Express was detained for 90 minutes. The incident occurred at 7.10 p.m. and normalcy was restored by 8.45 p.m., said Hari Krishnan, Ernakulam Area Manager of Southern Railway.
