He visited the two severely damaged junctions on the Edappally-Aroor NH Bypass on Saturday. He directed the paving of road shoulders of the service road on Palarivattom side using concrete blocks, to increase their width from 5.5 to 7.5 metres. It will enable smooth movement of vehicles exiting from Vyttila bridge’s underpass and proceeding towards the mobility hub and the junction. It has also been decided to raise the service road on the Aroor side of Vyttila, pave it using concrete blocks and integrate it with NH Bypass to prevent traffic snarls. Service roads at Kundanoor too must be paved using tiles. Mr. Rao instructed officials to remove bottlenecks at all traffic signal junctions in the city and to pave concrete tiles in potholed areas. Mr. Rao’s inspection follows public outcry over massive traffic hold-ups in and around the two junctions on NH Bypass that are barricaded for building flyovers.
