Ambulance drivers losing over 30 minutes at Vyttila

KOCHI: Ambulances are losing over 30 minutes of precious time due to daily traffic snarls at Vyttila Junction. But, a trip through Vyttila junction is a nightmare for us,” said Pradeep Kumar , an ambulance driver. “Even if we put on the siren, other vehicles won’t be able to move. “In other junctions like Edappally , the traffic snarls are there. “Last time it took 40 minutes for me to cross the junction,” he said.

KOCHI: Ambulances are losing over 30 minutes of precious time due to daily traffic snarls at Vyttila Junction. According to ambulance drivers , it is because of sheer luck that no patients lost their lives due to the delay in shifting them to the hospital Once caught in the traffic snarls, it won’t be easy to get out of it. “Even if we put on the siren, other vehicles won’t be able to move. Police also won’t be able to do anything,” said Anu, an ambulance driver. “It was because of luck that patients survived. We are praying that God be merciful enough in the coming days as well,” he said.Anu said it took him 35 minutes to cover the distance from Gold Souk to Vyttila junction on Thursday. “In other junctions like Edappally , the traffic snarls are there. But, a trip through Vyttila junction is a nightmare for us,” said Pradeep Kumar , an ambulance driver. “Potholes are the major contributing factor. Had the authorities repaired the roads, movement of vehicles would have been a bit more smooth,” said Kumar. “Last time it took 40 minutes for me to cross the junction,” he said.
