The magician boarded the first metro train from Aluva at 6 a.m. and alighted at Changampuzha Park station. There, he scribbled something on a piece of paper and locked it up in a container. He then travelled up to Edappally to witness the cake-cutting ceremony. Soon after, at a public interaction, a passenger was asked what his wish was. It turned out to be to see actor Mammooty. He was then asked to suggest an age for the actor. The centre of action then shifted back to Changampuzha Park station, where A.P.M. Mohammed Hanish, the Managing Director of Kochi Metro Rail Limited, unlocked the container. The paper inside had the actor’s name and the age the passenger had suggested, said metro sources. The celebrations also witnessed commuters singing songs at Edappally station. Reprsentatives of Kudumbasree, whose 700-odd staff are engaged in ticket distribution and housekeeping in metro stations, the metro special police and those of a private security agency who managed stations, were honoured at a function. Cakes were distributed to commuters and metro staff in the forenoon. On June 19, commuters may travel unlimited trips in the metro without paying ticket fare, to commemorate the first anniversary of the metro beginning commercial operation.
