MGU to hold exams, publish results in record time

“If everything goes according to plan, we will be able to publish the final semester results by the second week of May. Mahatma Gandhi University (MGU) has started working on an ambitious plan to hold examinations and publish the results of undergraduate and postgraduate programmes in record time from the academic year 2018-19. The preparation of an action plan, outlining the schedule for the conduct of exams and publication of results, is in its final stages. From the new academic year, the university plans to hold the odd-semester exams in October-November without fail, while the results will be published in January. ClassesClasses for the first semester postgraduate programmes are expected to start by July 25, and they will be streamlined with the ongoing third semester courses.

For the even semesters, the exams will be held in March-April, and the results will come out by May. CM’s pat The mammoth exercise to stick to the calendar for the conduct of exams and publication of results comes a few days after Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan told other universities to emulate MGU’s model of holding exams and publishing results without delay. “We have prepared a calendar, chalking out the entire process beginning from the commencement of classes to the conduct of exams and publication of results. The examination wing will stick to the calendar,” said R. Pragash, Syndicate member and convener of the examination committee. The calendar will have schedule for payment of fee, examination dates, and details about the centralised valuation camp to enable the departments concerned to work out a joint action plan. It will be distributed among officials entrusted with such responsibilities in the examination and related wings. “If everything goes according to plan, we will be able to publish the final semester results by the second week of May. We will take steps to ensure that students never lose out a chance to pursue higher studies in view of delay in conduct of exams and publication of results,” Dr. Pragash added. The univerity has also started working on rolling out a uniform calendar for the conduct of classes, exams, and publication of results of even and odd semesters of various postgraduate programmes. While the exams will be held in November, results are expected to be published by December or early January. Dr. Pragash termed the Chief Minister’s directive to other universities to follow the MGU model for timely conduct and publication of results as a recognition of the varsity’s ongoing efforts to help thousands of students by streamlining the examination wing.
