‘CPM is not conducting a Ramayana reading’

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: CPM state secretary Kodiyeri Balakrishnan , on Wednesday, termed media reports that the CPM would observe Ramayana month in Karkidakam as baseless. Poet K Satchidanandan who criticized the CPM’s plan to observe Ramayana month in a Facebook post, withdrew it later following the clarification provided by Balakrishnan. A state-level event to understand the literature of Ramayana will be organized in Thiruvananthapuram on July 25.“RSS has been misusing Ramayana month for communal agenda. The Karkidakam month when Hindus begin reading of Ramayana daily during prayer will begin on July17. Samskritha Sangham, an organization formed by Sanskrit scholars and academic persons, is organising several programmes to check this misuse.
