more-in While flooding in areas close to Kothamangalam improved a little on Friday, there were landslips at Mullaringadu near Mamalakandam and at Urulanthanny-Knacherry, where two houses were completely destroyed in the slide. Areas like Vadattupara, Kuttampuzha, and Mamalakandam continued to remain isolated. With the rain subsiding, connectivity was back. Manikandanchal at Kuttampuzha was completely inundated and out of bounds. “Nearly 500 people are at a camp in Keerambara near the Boothathankettu barrage. Several other camps are also run at Thrikariyoor and Venduvazhy. Neriamangalam remained inaccessible on Friday,” said Anil Kumar, area secretary of the CPI(M) in Kothamangalam. Nearly 200 migrant workers, women, and infants, who got trapped at the Kothamangalam bus stand were provided shelter by the CPI(M), which opened a camp for the workers at the IMA Hall at Thankalam. They were also provided food and essential clothing. The camp was later shifted to a nearby church.
