Karnataka: Dakshina Kannada union to send 1.20 lakh litres of milk to flood-hit Kerala

MANGLAURU: The Dakshina Kannada Milk Union has decided to send 1.20 lakh liters of ‘Trupti’, the long shelf life milk’, to flood-hit Kerala.BV Sathyanarayana, managing director, DK Milk Union Ltd (KMF), told TOI that the National Dairy Development Board (NDDB) has requested them to send long shelf life milk to Kerala.“We have already sent 20,000 litres of milk to Kerala on Friday and another consignment of 17,000 litres has been dispatched today. On Sunday, another consignment of 16,000 litres of milk will be sent through Coast Guard in their ship. A NGO also has requested us to provide milk for relief operations in Kerala,” he said.Earlier, the Coast Guard flew two sorties to Calicut and one to Kochi, each with 700kg of relief material from its air enclave at old airport, Bajpe, each with medicines, baby food donated by people of Mangaluru.
