Immediate assistance credited to 1.5 lakh families

Immediate flood relief assistance has already been credited into the bank accounts of 1,54,760 families in the district, Collector K. Mohammed Y. Safirulla has said. School head teachers will be coordinators and the entire village office staff ad school staff will function as supporting staff. The families are in Aluva (31,599), Kanayannur (19,787), Kochi (7,381), Kothamangalam (2,038), Kunnathunad (9,712), Muvattupuzha (8,411) and North Paravur (76,982) taluks. Respective village officers or special village officers will be in-charge of the schools that are distribution centres in their village. The Collector also issued an order to distribute remaining relief materials in various collection centres among the flood-hit families belonging to the BPL category in North Paravur taluk.

Mr. Safirulla said that complaints pertaining to duplication of payments, payment to ineligible families, and applications without bank account details would be soon examined and measures taken to ensure that the assistance reached all eligible families. Details of payment made are available on the district administration’s website and the Collector’s Facebook page. The Collector also issued an order to distribute remaining relief materials in various collection centres among the flood-hit families belonging to the BPL category in North Paravur taluk. It would be done on September 15 and 16 on a first come, first served basis at 26 select schools in 13 villages in the taluk. Paravur Tahsildar will oversee the distribution at Paravur, Chendamangalam, Vadakkekara, Moothakunnam, Ezhikkara, Kottuvally and Varapuzha villages while Paravur Land Tahsildar will supervise the same at Alangad, Eloor, Kadungalloor, Karumaloor, Kunnukara and Puthenvelikkara villages. The Collector has asked the District Supply Officer to delegate more employees for the distribution of relief materials. Respective village officers or special village officers will be in-charge of the schools that are distribution centres in their village. School head teachers will be coordinators and the entire village office staff ad school staff will function as supporting staff. Each centre will have 10 volunteers from Kudumbashree.
