Kerala nun rape: Police question bishop Franco Mulakkal

The bishop is likely to face questions over his alibis and evidence that he produced to prove the same. The bishop was questioned at Jalandhar by the IO after which several contradictions in the statements of the witnesses, the accused and the complainant arose.Police had summoned him for questioning after verifying several of this contradictions. Bishop's claim of the nun keeping a grudge over him before filing the complaint would also come up in the questioning.The interrogation centre at Tripunithura is a high tech facility with cameras, hidden microphones and wireless devices to give information to the interrogating officer from outside. KOCHI: Bishop Franco Mulakkal , accused of raping a nun, appeared before the investigating officer (IO) for questioning at a special interrogation facility at Tripunithura near Kochi.The questioning went on for four hours, till the filing of this report, with Vaikom DSP K Subash and Kottayam SP Hari Sankar present at the interrogation facility.Though the case was registered at Kuravilangad station which falls under the jurisdiction of Kottayam police, the interrogation was moved to the facility within Kochi city police limits at the last minute.The bishop arrived at 11am in a Volkswagen Polo car registered with the Tripunithura RTO itself.Apart from curious local crowd gathered near the facility, no instances of protest had been staged here as of now.Bishop Franco is accused of raping the nun, who was with him at Jalandhar, 13 times at St Francis Mission Home, Kuravilangad.
