KOCHI: Dr Radhika Kapathi, who works with a city hospital, was arrested for the death of her husband on Thursday.Priyang Bijalwan, who was a robotic surgeon attached to the department of urology of the same hospital where she worked, was found dead in a hotel room on September 12.Confirming the arrest, deputy commissioner of police J Himendranath said there were enough reasons to arrest her. “There were issues between the couple. The suicide letter and emails sent out by the deceased reveals blackmailing. Family members also support the story. The wife did not inform the police when her husband went missing. Neither did she come when the body was found, nor did she attend the funeral. Moreover, without any kind of provocation from police she approached for anticipatory bail. All these points to something fishy. The woman created circumstances, which led to his death.”Himendranath also said that the police were verifying mobiles and laptops used by the couple. They are also checking hard disks.Radhika Kapathi, daughter of N K Kapathia hails from Aurangabad, and Priyang Bijalwan from Dehradun.As per preliminary investigation, the doctor had apparently committed suicide by injecting a poisonous drug. Injection marks were found on his hand. Police had registered a case for unnatural death and are probing it.
