Abhimanyu M., an undergraduate student at Maharaja’s College in Ernakulam, was stabbed to death on the college campus around 12.45 a.m. on July 2. The police team probing the murder of Maharaja’s College student and Students Federation of India (SFI) activist Abhimanyu arrested yet another accused just when they are gearing up to submit the first set of charge-sheets in the case shortly. Preliminary investigations by the police suggest that he was responsible for bringing the assailants to the college campus sparking off the skirmish that eventually led to the murder of Abhimanyu. The police have, by now, arrested nine out of the 17 accused directly involved in the murder and are now on the lookout for the remaining persons. He was one of the eight accused against whom the police had issued lookout notice earlier this week.
