BJP's highway blockade in Kerala peaceful

BJP State Secretary AN Radhakrishnan inaugurated the blockade at Vytila at 11 am. BJP state vice president PM Velayudhan inaugurated the blockade. Overall the blockade was peaceful. Around 250 BJP workers including women attended. The police said that the blockade was more or less peaceful throughout the state and no untoward incidents were reported though arguments between police and protesters happened at some places.

KOCHI: Following the arrest of BJP Kerala general seretary K Surendran at Nilackal, the party blocked around 100 points on national highways for one hour across Kerala on Sunday morning. The police said that the blockade was more or less peaceful throughout the state and no untoward incidents were reported though arguments between police and protesters happened at some places. The police registered cases on charges of unlawful assembly, rioting etc.BJP state president Sreedharan Pillai, who led protest in Kottayam said that a dangerous situation prevails in the state and the state faction has apprised the Centre and BJP national leadership about the situation in the state.BJP's highway blockade in Ernakulam went peaceful. Traffic was not affected much as police diverted vehicles through parallel roads. Angamaly witnessed a massive protest by around 1,100 people. BJP state vice president PM Velayudhan inaugurated the blockade. Angamaly police said that the highway towards Thrissur and Aluva was blocked for one hour. Though two-wheelers and four-wheelers were diverted, heavy vehicles like tankers and trucks were stopped for half an hour.The protest at Muvattupuzha by around 200 party workers created a bit tension for some time. The police arrested seven protesters including BJP leader Renu Suresh on charges of rioting but was later released on bail.Blockades were staged at Neyyatinakara and Thampanoor in Thiruvananthapuram , Kollam, Alappuzha, Mannuthy in Thrissur etc. which led to traffic blocks for a short time. Overall the blockade was peaceful.
