Protesters stage dharna outside police stations

Thrikkakara and Perumbavoor police stations also witnessed peaceful sieges.Though police had diverted vehicles through parallel roads, traffic jams were reported at Edappally, Kaloor and Palarivattom. Hindu Aikyavedi state secretary R V Babu along with Viswa Hindu Parishad secretary M Sudhakaran and state president Ajith led the protests.Police blocked protesters using barricades before they reached IG office. The protesters were also seen at Tripunithura Hill Palace police station, chanting Ayyappa prayers . Marches were also reported at Panangad and Mattancherry police stations limits.Around 100 people led by Sabarimala Karma Samithi, Hindu Aikyavedi and Viswa Hindu Parishad marched from Kacheripady to the office of inspector general (IG) of police near Marine Drive around 11.30am. The devotees chanted Ayyappa prayers for around an hour and were dispersed by 12.30pm.

KOCHI: As part of the state-wide protest against the police action at Sabarimala temple, Ernakulam witnessed prayer processions and dharnas at police stations by Hindu outfits and devotee organizations on Monday.Marches by hundreds of people to police stations in the city and rural limits have been reported ever since police arrested protesters at Sabarimala Sannidhanam in the early hours of Monday.Police said that no untoward incidents were reported at any of the places.A group of protesters took to streets at Muvattupuzha after the news of the arrest spread across the state. They led a peaceful prayer procession through the town for around an hour and later assembled before Muvattupuzha police station and staged a dharna for around 30 minutes.Around 50 Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) workers conducted dharna at Munambom police station between 4.30 and 5.30am. The protesters were also seen at Tripunithura Hill Palace police station, chanting Ayyappa prayers .
