60-year-old woman among three killed in road accidents

KOCHI: Three people, including a woman, were killed in three different accidents in the city over the last two days.Shibu (49), a resident of Perumanoor, died after the motorbike he rode hit a truck carrying LPG cylinder on Kundanoor-Thevara Bridge at 7.45am on Tuesday. Shibu was a contract employee at Cochin Shipyard and was on the way to office when the accident occurred.Shibu lost control while overtaking the truck on the bridge and fell on the road, Panangad police said. The rear tyres of the truck ran over him causing severe injuries. Though he was taken to a nearby hospital, doctors declared him brought dead. The body was released to his relatives after the inquest and autopsy. Police registered a case against the truck driver under IPC section 304 (A) for causing death by negligence.Aru Mughan, a native of Thrikkovilloor, died when he was hit by a mini truck at Angamaly in the wee hours of Monday. Angamaly police have registered a case against the driver on charges of culpable homicide not amounting to murder.Baby, 60, died in an accident on national highway at Angamaly on Monday evening. The police said she was hit by a two-wheeler, rode by a minor boy, near Kothakulangara junction while she was returning home after work at a textile shop there. Though Baby was taken to hospital by residents in the area, she succumbed to her injuries. The body was later released to relatives and was buried in Angamaly St Mary’s church.Police said the rider lost control of his speeding motorbike and hit the pedestrian.
