Parallel service of Ro-Ro unlikely before Biennale

They will require training for at least 10 more days," said a KSINC official."We are trying to complete the training soon so that both the vessels (Sethu Sagar 1 and 2) can be simultaneously deployed for service to help the influx of people to Kochi for KMB and Cochin Carnival," added the official.The training is being provided to employees in Sethu Sagar 1 near boat jetty at Bolgatty.Meanwhile, FKJK said that a protest dharna would be conducted in front of Kochi corporation office on Saturday for the delay in deploying both the vessels in service simultaneously."Thousands of people are likely to visit Fort Kochi for Cochin Carnival and Biennale. With just one vessel, it will be difficult to manage the crowd," said FKJK chairman Majnu Komath.He also added that more protest would be conducted if authorities fail to take necessary measures.Members of the organization also pointed out that officials were negligent to address the issues faced by passengers."In a meeting conducted on last July, which was presided over by minister for local self-government departments, the authorities were directed to look into the works of Vypeen boat jetty and the maintenance works of the vessels. But many of the directives are yet to be implemented," added Komath.
