Chetak helicopter of Southern Naval Command makes precautionary landing in Alappuzha

ALAPPUZHA: A Chetak helicopter of Southern Naval Command "IN 429" which was carrying out routine flying made a precautionary landing at Chammanad Devi Temple ground close to Nainital Highway 66 near Thuravoor in Alappuzha district on Wednesday afternoon.The Navy officials told TOI that the crew consisting of two pilots made the landing following a discrepancy in engine parameters. The landing is as required by the Standard operating procedures (SOP) of the helicopter. As per our rule, if found any discrepancy in engine parameters, they should make landing as soon as possible and they should not continue the flying.

They are safe and the aircraft has not suffered any damage. The landing is as required by the Standard operating procedures (SOP) of the helicopter. So the technical team have decided to take the helicopter back to Kochi by road for doing the repair works," said Navy officials.
