KOCHI: Excise department seized 500kg of banned tobacco products after conducting raids at various locations at Perumbavoor on Friday.The seizure was made by Ernakulam excise enforcement and anti-narcotic special squad. Officers said that the accused used to peddle ganja among migrant labourers. Shajahan Ali, Ashok Kumar, Ramesh, Hussain and Ali, all hailing from West Bengal, and Assam natives Ashdul, Pradeep , Shajahan, Raju, Birju, Akram and Hussain Ali were booked under the Cotpa Act in connection with the seizure.The checking was held at Perumbavoor excise range by a team led by circle inspector B Suresh.
