PM Modi Inaugurates Kochi-Mangaluru Natural Gas Pipeline

The pipeline built by GAIL Ltd. has a transportation capacity of 12 million metric standard cubic meters per day that will carry natural gas from Kochi to Mangaluru.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi attended the inauguration ceremony of the Kochi-Mangaluru Natural Gas pipeline via video conferencing today at 11 am. Alongside him, Governors and Chief Ministers of Karnataka and Kerala, along with Union Minister for Petroleum and Natural Gas present.

PM said, "It is an honour to dedicate the 450-km pipeline to the nation. This is an important day for India, especially for people of Karnataka and Kerala."

The total cost of the project is estimated to be around Rs 3000 Crore while the construction created 12 lakh man-days of employment for people. The pipeline built by GAIL Ltd. has a transportation capacity of 12 million metric standard cubic meters per day that will carry natural gas from Kochi to Mangaluru.

The pipeline will be able to supply environmental friendly Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) and Piped Natural Gas (PNG) to the transportation sector and households respectively.

PM dedicated the pipeline to the nation and said it will bring positive futuristic changes in the nation. A cleaner alternative that will help curb air pollution while being an affordable and safer option for citizens.
