An Elephant fallen into the well in the forest was rescued by the locals and officials of the forest.

The most lovable animal of the state, the Elephant, in the Neriamangalam forest fell into an open well.

The forest officials and locals in the area helped in rescuing it and sent it back to the forest. A local man said that a herd of 8 elephants was raiding the crops for few weeks but the forest officials did not take any step to direct them away.  The herd entered the colony on Tuesday night and destroyed the crops. A tribal youth had a narrow escape from the marauding herd.

Today morning the locals could hear the elephant rumbling and spotted the elephant fallen in the well. A team from the Neriyamangalam forest range office led by range officer Joji John and deputy range officer Shyju rushed to the spot and started a rescue operation.

The officials then with the help of an excavator removed the earth and created a ramp for the elephant to climb out of the well.
