Mobile clinics to deal with fever cases

The District General Hospital will lead mobile fever clinics in various parts of the city and suburbs to deal with the rising number of fever cases this season. A statement issued by Mr. Eden said the mobile clinics would be made available in various colonies in the constituency. Kuttappan informed the meeting that out of 193 cases of H1N1 reported in the district, 13 were from the Ernakulam constituency. On an average, a couple of dengue cases were also getting reported every day. People’s representatives of the 25 divisions of the corporation and 17 wards of Cheranalloor grama panchayat participated in the meeting.

This was decided at a meeting held on Tuesday presided over by Hibi Eden, MLA, to take stock of the situation in Ernakulam Assembly constituency. A statement issued by Mr. Eden said the mobile clinics would be made available in various colonies in the constituency. District Medical Officer N.K. Kuttappan informed the meeting that out of 193 cases of H1N1 reported in the district, 13 were from the Ernakulam constituency. On an average, a couple of dengue cases were also getting reported every day. The district programme manager of National Health Mission, Mathews Numpelil, had said that the laboratory facility at Manapattiparambu would be expanded in three days with more technicians to handle emergency cases. This was one of the demands discussed at the meeting. To address the garbage problem in the constituency, it was decided that each division would appoint five cleaning workers immediately and they would be asked to take up cleaning work in the area in the afternoon also. This was informed by V.K. Minimol, chairperson of the health standing committee of the Kochi Corporation. Mr. Eden also called for expediting the project to preserve Perandoor Canal. He also directed the Public Works Department to clean rainwater drains to keep the city from getting waterlogged in the rains. People’s representatives of the 25 divisions of the corporation and 17 wards of Cheranalloor grama panchayat participated in the meeting.
