One-time settlement chance for loan defaulters

KOCHI: The Ernakulam District Cooperative Bank (DCB) has announced a one-time settlement opportunity for loan defaulters who are facing legal proceedings. For Aluva taluk, the adalat will be held on November 21 at the Aluva main branch of the bank. In Kothamangalam, the sitting will be held at the Kothamangalam main branch on November 22. For Kunnathunadu taluk, the sitting will be held at the Perumbavoor main branch of the bank on November 24. The adalat for Kanayannur taluk will be held on November 20 at the DCB head office.

The special adalats to settle default loans will be held from November 20 to 28. All branches of the DCB are involved in the exercise. The adalat for Kanayannur taluk will be held on November 20 at the DCB head office. For Aluva taluk, the adalat will be held on November 21 at the Aluva main branch of the bank. In Kothamangalam, the sitting will be held at the Kothamangalam main branch on November 22. For Muvattupuzha, the adalat will be held at Muvattupuzha Rural on November 23. For Kunnathunadu taluk, the sitting will be held at the Perumbavoor main branch of the bank on November 24. The adalat for Kochi taluk will be held at the Njarakkal evening branch on November 27, and for Paravur taluk, it will be held at the Paravur main branch on November 28. The DCB had notched up a record in the last financial year with an increase in deposits to ?752.38 crore. The deposits increased the total business of the bank in the last financial year to more than ?12,500 crore. The bank’s total capital base, which was ?225 crore on March 31, 2016, went up to ?406 crore by the end of March 2017. The increase has helped the DCB raise its capital adequacy from 7.03% to 15.64%. The DCB, which has been in the forefront of technology, aims at providing technological assistance to other district banks in the current financial year. The bank’s annual meet had approved plans to offer mobile banking services for its customers. All farmers in the district will also be brought under the Rupay Kisan Card programme.
