Metro ferry terminal designs selected

The designs for the ferry terminals of the Water Metro project at Fort Kochi and Vyttila that won the first prize in the architectural design competition conducted by KMRL. A committee chaired by noted architect G. Shankar has selected the winners of the architectural design competition conducted by Kochi Metro Rail Limited (KMRL) for the ferry terminals of the Kochi Water Metro project proposed at Fort Kochi and Vyttila. Dayal Paul Sebastien, Kakkanad, Ernakulam, and Ajay Sethi of PSP Design, Chennai, secured the second prizes for Fort Kochi and Vyttila respectively. A team comprising Rajiv Babu and Ameena Hamza from Chalakudy won the prize for the best design for the Vyttila terminal, said an official release. Out of the total 33 submissions for Vyttila and 31 for Fort Kochi, six and five entries were shortlisted respectively by the screening committee.

The design by Studio Homosapiens, an architectural firm based at Panampilly Nagar, comprising Vinaya Das V., Dhanesh T.S., Roopa Mathew, and Abhilash V.S., has been chosen as the winning entry for the terminal in Fort Kochi. A team comprising Rajiv Babu and Ameena Hamza from Chalakudy won the prize for the best design for the Vyttila terminal, said an official release. Dayal Paul Sebastien, Kakkanad, Ernakulam, and Ajay Sethi of PSP Design, Chennai, secured the second prizes for Fort Kochi and Vyttila respectively. Out of the total 33 submissions for Vyttila and 31 for Fort Kochi, six and five entries were shortlisted respectively by the screening committee. The shortlisted participants were requested to present their entries before the selection committee chaired by Mr. Shankar. KMRL officials too were a part of the committee. The first prize winner will receive ?50,000, and the runner-up will get ?25,000. Consolation prizes of ?5,000 each will be given away for shortlisted designs.
