Militants Apprehended Arms Extortion Notes Recovered In Tirap District

KOHIMA: Based on specific input, troops of Assam Rifles undertook an operation in Horu Chinghan village of Tirap district and apprehended a cadre of PREPAK (PRO) recently. The apprehended cadre along with recovered weapon has been handed over to police for investigations, stated a PIB Defence wing) release. The apprenhendee along with recovered items was handed over to Mon Police Station for further investigation. Extortion amount of Rs 20,000 in cash and other incriminating documents were recovered from them. The apprehendees along with recovered items were handed over to Ahthibung Police Station, the release added.

The individual has been identified as self-styled lance corporal Nongthongbam Malemnganba Singh. A .32 Pistol with live ammunition has been recovered from his possesion. The apprehended cadre along with recovered weapon has been handed over to police for investigations, stated a PIB Defence wing) release. In another incident again acting on specific information regarding movement of a PLA cadre at Chenmoho in Mon, troops of Assam Rifles launched an operation and recently apprehended a PLA cadre Narendra Loithongbam, age 19 yrs, son of late Sura Loithongbam, resident of Uripok, Imphal. The apprenhendee along with recovered items was handed over to Mon Police Station for further investigation. Meanwhile, based on specific input regarding extortion activity by cadres of GPRN NSCN (KN) in general area Ahthibung, troops of Assam Rifles launched an operation recenlty and apprehended self-styled Lt Col Vitoye Sumi, self-styled major Hekaho Zhimo, self-styled lieutenant Paojangam Singon, self-styled sergeant Lamkhup Singson and self-styled corporal Vikuto Chopy. Extortion amount of Rs 20,000 in cash and other incriminating documents were recovered from them. The apprehendees along with recovered items were handed over to Ahthibung Police Station, the release added.
