International Day of World s Indigenous People Observed in Dimapur

DIMAPUR: With a view to preserve and promote mother tongue, the 'International Day of World's Indigenous Peoples' organised by Tir Yimyim – Ao Vernacular daily newspaper — under the theme 'Indigenous Languages' was organized at Elim Hall, Dimapur Ao Baptist Arogo recently.
He said that the 'International Day of World's Indigenous Peoples' is observed on August 9 every year, marking the day of the first meeting of the UN working group on indigenous people on promotion and protection of human rights in 1982.
If become a reality, he said, the Academy would help many scholars and also help preserve and protect the Ao language.
Secretary, Ao-Senden Literature Board, I.Temjen Tsudir also highlighted the various steps taken up by different organizations to promote Ao language.
