2 held with fake currency notes amounting to Rs 2.49 lakh

When we checked them, we found the duo was possessing 75 currency notes of denomination of Rs 2,000, 177 notes of the denominations of Rs 200 and 638 notes of the denominations of Rs 100 totally amounting to Rs 2.49 lakh. “Koli was printing these notes at his house and Patel was assisting him in circulating these notes in the market. Kolhapur: The local crime branch (LCB) has arrested two suspects that were allegedly involved in printing and circulating counterfeit currency notes of denominations of Rs 2,000, 200 and 100.The duo was printing these notes using a colour printer and executive bond paper at their residence. These were all fake notes.”He added that the duo has admitted to committing the crime. We are yet to find the number of notes they have circulated in the market so far and since when they have been doing this,” he said.

Kolhapur: The local crime branch (LCB) has arrested two suspects that were allegedly involved in printing and circulating counterfeit currency notes of denominations of Rs 2,000, 200 and 100.The duo was printing these notes using a colour printer and executive bond paper at their residence. Police have seized the fake notes amounting to Rs 2.49 lakh from them including the printer, paper and other material used for printing the fake notes.The arrested have been identified as Vishwas Koli (27), a resident of Alas village, in the Shirol taluka and Jameer Abdul Qadir Patel (32), a resident of Kanwad, in Shirol taluka.D N Mohite, police inspector in-charge of the LCB, Kolhapur said, “We received information from sources that some people were involved in printing fake currency notes. Based on this, we nabbed the duo at Walivade railway station in the Gandhi Nagar area. When we checked them, we found the duo was possessing 75 currency notes of denomination of Rs 2,000, 177 notes of the denominations of Rs 200 and 638 notes of the denominations of Rs 100 totally amounting to Rs 2.49 lakh. These were all fake notes.”He added that the duo has admitted to committing the crime. “Koli was printing these notes at his house and Patel was assisting him in circulating these notes in the market.
