6 students caught copying as HSC examination begins

KOLHAPUR: Four students from the city, along with two others, were caught cheating during the first day of the HSC exams on Wednesday.However, the exam for the English subject was otherwise conducted peacefully across Kolhapur division, which includes Sangli, Satara and Kolhapur districts, officials of the state education board said.According to Kolhapur divisional board secretary Pushpalata Pawar , four of the students caught cheating are from the city-based Gopal Krishna Gokhale College . The other two are from the Kotoli village.

KOLHAPUR: Four students from the city, along with two others, were caught cheating during the first day of the HSC exams on Wednesday.However, the exam for the English subject was otherwise conducted peacefully across Kolhapur division, which includes Sangli, Satara and Kolhapur districts, officials of the state education board said.According to Kolhapur divisional board secretary Pushpalata Pawar , four of the students caught cheating are from the city-based Gopal Krishna Gokhale College . The other two are from the Kotoli village. No cheating case was reported from Sangli and Satara districts.She added that apart from this incidence no errors or problems were reported from any of the 154 examination centres in the division.Pawar said that for the board examination high vigilance through sitting and flying squads has been kept to curb any copying incidents and the security will be further tightened.The board has implied sitting squad for each and every centre with at least two members in it. However, students should not engage in such activity where there is a chance that their whole year might be in jeopardy," he said.He added that this year from the Kolhapur divisional board as many as 1.29 lakh students have registered for the examination, including around 2,000 repeaters.The theory exam that has commenced from Wednesday across the state will end on March 20.
