Over 34,000 students apply for photocopies for 2017 exams

Kolhapur: Shivaji University, Kolhapur (SUK) has received photocopy applications from as many as 34,781 candidates for the March 2017 and October 2017 semester examination combined. The report of October 2017 semester’s re-evaluation claim will be out in a few days after the completion of the post-examination formalities, added the official.The official said the number of re-evaluation applications received for October 2017 exam was more than 7,000 applications for over 10,000 subjects. The whole process takes at least two months to complete.According to the official, the results of many students change if the re-evaluation claim is right and it is reflected in the assessment. The grievance redressal committee of the respective subject assesses the candidate’s answer sheet based on which the marks are either changed or not recommended for re-evaluation. The students also get back their re-evaluation fee.The official added the exam department receives over 5,000 re-evaluation applications every semester in which many students get their re-evaluation claim right.The university had to shell out Rs 18 lakh to reimburse the re-evaluation fee to those students whose claims proved right in the October 2015 result.

Most of the applications were from the engineering and law faculties, said an official from the exam department.Director of Board of Examinations and Evaluation Mahesh Kakade said a student could apply for photocopy of any two subjects. From the October 2017 examination, students were being given digital photocopies which have saved a lot of time for the department.Kakade added SUK’s examination department has already declared most of the examination results of the October 2017 semester examination and is currently focussing on the 2018 semester examination which is underway.An official from the exam department said after the semester results are out, a candidate can apply for photocopy for maximum two subjects if he/she feels there is a chance of a change in the final result in a particular subject.The official further added if a candidate wishes, he can apply for re-evaluation which costs Rs 500 per subject.
