In a circular on April 12, Sunil Chauhan, education director (primary), had said that the names of such schools should be publicized to let citizens know about a school’s illegal status. His circular said that the schools without formal nod from the state government or the schools affiliated with CBSE/ICSE/IB/IGCSE/CI without state government’s consent can be termed as illegal school.Notably, the district primary education department had issued notices against these schools to shut down their illegal classes in May 2017, however, no response was received by the department from the schools then. The official added that if the schools operate without the state governments’ recognition, they have to face the action under the section 18 of the Right to Education (RTE) act, 2009.
