Screening for Nipah virus to start within 2 days

Kolhapur: To make sure no Nipah virus infection (NiV) cases go undetected, the district health department will organise a screening drive will start soon according to district civil surgeon L S Patil.He said that the screening for Nipah virus will start across the city and district within the next two days.He added that border areas of the district and tourists returning from Kerala will be kept under close scrutiny.Patil added that since there is no vaccine available for the infection caused by Nipah virus, they are going to make sure that it does not enter the district and the suspects remain contained.He added that blood and urine samples of suspects will be sent to Pune based National Institute of Virology (NIV) for tests.
