Class XI admission: No details finalised yet

KOLHAPUR: The deputy director of education is yet to finalize the Class XI admission process information, even with the Class X results just around the corner.The deputy director of education looks after the class XI admission process jointly with the Centralised Admission Process (CAP) committee. "The department is sure that it will not hamper the admission process in any way," the official said.Last year, 10 days after the announcement of the Class X result, the Centralised Admission Process (CAP) committee had failed to decide on a schedule of the Class XI admission process. An official had said that a Pune-based company was awarded the tender of Class XI admission forms for the three streams - science, commerce and arts and forms were not ready then. The meetings for the preliminary discussion of the admission process start in May every year. "I will only be able to give you information on the admission process after a meeting is held," Chougule said.An education department official said once the details are finalized, it will pave the way for a smooth admission process.

However, up till June 6 this year, there has not been a single meeting to discuss the issue.A source in the education department said the retirement of deputy director of education, M K Gondhali has created a void. The recently promoted assistant education director, Subhash Chougule, who served as primary education officer at the Kolhapur ZP, told TOI that details like centres for sale of forms as well as their collection, a grievances cell and the overall control centre of the class XI admission process will be finalized soon.He added that a meeting on this is likely to be held on Thursday. "I will only be able to give you information on the admission process after a meeting is held," Chougule said.An education department official said once the details are finalized, it will pave the way for a smooth admission process. "The department is sure that it will not hamper the admission process in any way," the official said.Last year, 10 days after the announcement of the Class X result, the Centralised Admission Process (CAP) committee had failed to decide on a schedule of the Class XI admission process. The committee president had then told TOI that the technical issues had hindered the process and that is why they had not released the schedule.Ironically, even the forms that were to be filled in by students were not ready last year after the Class X result. An official had said that a Pune-based company was awarded the tender of Class XI admission forms for the three streams - science, commerce and arts and forms were not ready then.
