Kolhapur: The Kolhapur division retained its second spot among nine divisions in the SSC result for the sixth year in a row with a slight improvement in the pass percentage.Pass percentage in Kolhapur division (93.88) this year was much higher than the state average of 89.41. The Konkan division with 96% secured first position among nine divisions, while Nagpur division with 85.97% was at the bottom. In terms of percentage, 92.48% boys and 95.61% girls cleared the SSC exam.Kiran Lohar, deputy education director of the Kolhapur division, said Konkan and Kolhapur division have consistently performed scored well in the SSC exams.

Kolhapur: The Kolhapur division retained its second spot among nine divisions in the SSC result for the sixth year in a row with a slight improvement in the pass percentage.Pass percentage in Kolhapur division (93.88) this year was much higher than the state average of 89.41. The result declared on Friday was on the basis of the ‘best of five’ scheme, wherein the student’s best scores in five of the six subjects are taken into consideration.Within the division, Kolhapur district topped the result with pass percentage of 95.35, followed by Satara district with 93.43 pass percentage and Sangli with 92.25%. The Konkan division with 96% secured first position among nine divisions, while Nagpur division with 85.97% was at the bottom. Both Kolhapur and Konkan fall under Kolhapur jurisdiction.This year, a total of 79,640 boys and 64,183 girls had appeared for the exam in Kolhapur division. Among them, 73,652 boys and 61,366 girls passed the exam. In terms of percentage, 92.48% boys and 95.61% girls cleared the SSC exam.Kiran Lohar, deputy education director of the Kolhapur division, said Konkan and Kolhapur division have consistently performed scored well in the SSC exams. “The additional 10-minute time for the overview of the paper has helped students in getting an overall idea about the questions,” he said.As many as 57 subjects examination was conducted this year. Of these, 11 subjects scored 100% result. From the state, 4,028 schools scored 100% result, while 33 schools scored 0% result, the state board report showed.He added that the students who wish to reappear for the July 2018 supplementary exams should submit their applications online. The details regarding the same will be announced by the board later.Students who have passed the SSC exams in all the subjects, but still want to improve their marks can take advantage of the class improvement scheme introduced in 2008. Such students can reappear for the July supplementary exam, provided they have passed in all the subjects in the March 2018 exams.The allowed to keep terms an (ATKT) criterion, which was introduced from 2009, will be available this year too. Students who have failed in not more than two subjects can formally take admission in class XI but have to clear exam in July this year.If they fail in July, the candidates will have another chance to improve his result in March next year. If the candidate still does not manage to pass the exam, the class XI admission will be cancelled.Education activist Sattappa Mohite said all stakeholders were responsible for the division’s consistent good performance.
