Aurangabad receives 4mm rainfall

In Sangli district , only Shirala taluka received 1.5 mm rainfall. The intensity of rainfall has also decreased in catchment areas.As per the figures released by district administration, maximum rainfall (19mm) was recorded in Gaganbawada. The intensity of rain in other talukas was also low on Monday and Tuesday.According to the district administration officials, the intensity of rainfall will continue to remain the same for two to three days and then the district is likely to experience heavy rainfall.The rainfall recorded in other talukas was 1.28 mm in Panhala , 3.33 mm in Shahuwadi, 5.33 mm in Radhanagari, 0.81 mm in Karveer, 0.28 mm in Kagal, 0.85 mm in Gadhinglaj , 5.40 mm in Bhudargad, 2.50 mm in Ajara and 10.66 mm in Chandgad. Hatkanangle in Shirol did not receive any rainfall. In Sangli district , only Shirala taluka received 1.5 mm rainfall."The rainfall has helped farmers to continue with their agricultural activities. They have geared up for the sowing activities and are expecting to complete it before the next spell of rainfall hits the district," an official from district collectorate said.The Water Resource Department officials said that heavy rainfall in catchment areas in the first spell of monsoon has resulted in slight increase in the capacity of dams constructed on the rivers in the south Maharashtra and they are closely keeping a watch on the water levels in dams and rivers.
