Kolhapur: The Shivaji University, Kolhapur (SUK) has invited applications for its Golden Jubilee Research Fellowship from PhD scholars in 43 different faculties till June 30. The coveted fellowship offers a monthly stipend of Rs10,000 for its PhD students.The university, in a circular on June 20, has instructed the departmental heads and the principals of the affiliated colleges, to invite the applications from the research fellows by June 30 and scrutinize the applications and forward them to the varsity by July 9. Students and faculty members can refer to the circular for information about the reveservation system. The details regarding the same have been asked to be submitted by July 9 by the authorities.The scholarship, which was called Departmental Research Fellowship (DRF), now called Shivaji University Golden Jubilee Research Fellowship, is offered from the university fund. Along with the fellowship, students also get an added annual expense of Rs6,000 for the books and the stationary, a university official said.The University is offering the DRF from the year 1995 to the selected students from each department. “We have 38 departments and the departmental selection committee scrutinizes the applications from the PhD research scholars. The fellowship is offered for two years and can be extended for another year if the performance of the candidate found to be satisfactory and get recommendation from departmental selection committee,” the official said.The Ichalkaranji-based DKTE Societys, Textile and Engineering Institute has introduced two new courses — B Tech in Civil and B Tech in Electrical Engineering — from the 2018-19 academic year.Along with 60 seats for each program, they are also offering additional special quota for foreign students in Textile Courses, Kallappanna Awade the chairman of the institute said.DKTE has introduced these programs as civil and electrical engineering contributes to one of the three fundamental needs of mankind and has become a necessity, Awade added.SUK reschedules its admission processThe earlier schedule of the PG admission process of the SUK has been cancelled due to technical reasons, a recent circular said. Admissions will be granted from June 26 along with the announcements of available seats.The round 2 will be announced on June 29, while the actual admissions will start on June 30.
