Heavy rain likely at isolated places in Kolhapur, Satara

District officials said heavy rain is likely at many places in the next three days.Kolhapur received 8.14 mm rainfall on average. Moderate to heavy rain will continue in August and September, the official said. Kolhapur: After a break of a week, rainfall resumed in Kolhapur on Sunday as the South West monsoon progressed into western Maharashtra. The Met department forecast rainfall in Kolhapur, Sangli and Satara districts over the next four days. With the rain in June less than expected, it is likely that rains in July will be heavier.

Kolhapur: After a break of a week, rainfall resumed in Kolhapur on Sunday as the South West monsoon progressed into western Maharashtra. The Met department forecast rainfall in Kolhapur, Sangli and Satara districts over the next four days. District officials said heavy rain is likely at many places in the next three days.Kolhapur received 8.14 mm rainfall on average. This is likely to increase by Monday. Though the urban region like Kolhapur city and low-lying areas like Hatkanangle taluka received less rainfall, the catchment area and the regions adjacent to the Western Ghats received heavy rainfall.Gaganbawada taluka received the highest rainfall in the district (25 mm). Other parts of the district received normal rainfall with Hatkanangle at 0.88 mm, Shirol 0, Panhala 0.71 mm, Shahuwaid 11.83 mm, Radhanagari 17.67 mm, Karveer 4.18 mm, Kagal 3.28 mm, Gadhinglaj 2.42 mm, Bhudargad 16.80 mm, Ajara 8.25 mm and Chandgad 6.66 mm rainfall.We have received warning from IMD Mumbai that heavy rainfall is likely to occur at isolated places in Kolhapur and Satara districts on June 25 and 26. We have issued instructions to the concerned departments and the government agencies to be prepared to tackle any untoward situation during these days, a district official said.IMD has predicted good monsoon in the country this year. With the rain in June less than expected, it is likely that rains in July will be heavier. Moderate to heavy rain will continue in August and September, the official said.
