Heavy rainfall likely in region today forecasts Met department

The region consists of Satara, Sangli, Solapur and Kolhapur districts.According to IMD officials, Kolhapur, Sangli and Satara districts will receive heavy rainfall on Tuesday. KOLHAPUR: The district administrations of Kolhapur and Sangli have issued high alert following the forecast of heavy rainfall in south-central Maharashtra by the India Meteorological Department, Mumbai. Total 25 KT weirs in the district are submerged.Kolhapur district received 31mm rainfall in the 24 hours ending at 8am on Monday. "On Monday city witnessed less rainfall but the catchment areas continued to receive heavy showers. The water levels in the major reservoirs and rivers in the district have remained stable and no river has crossed danger or warning level.

Rain or thundershowers are likely to occur at most places over Konkan-Goa, central Maharashtra and Marathwada."On Monday city witnessed less rainfall but the catchment areas continued to receive heavy showers. The water levels in the major reservoirs and rivers in the district have remained stable and no river has crossed danger or warning level. We are ready with our teams to tackle any untoward incident and have issued instructions to people living on low-lying areas on the banks of rivers to be ready to evacuate if water levels in rivers rise," said an official attached with the Kolhapur district disaster management department.After continuous moderate to heavy rainfall in the district the intensity of rainfall is likely to come down from Wednesday.As per the data released by the district administration, the water level of Panchganga river at Rajaram KT weir was 26 feet 9 inches on Monday morning. Total 25 KT weirs in the district are submerged.Kolhapur district received 31mm rainfall in the 24 hours ending at 8am on Monday. Gaganbawada received 71mm, followed by Radhanagari (49mm), Shahuwadi (48mm), Bhudargad (42mm), Chandgad (38mm), Ajara (37mm), Kagal (26mm), Gadhinglaj (17mm), Panhala (14mm), Hatkanangle (10mm), Karveer (10mm) and Shirol (8mm).The government officials have appealed to the people to contact the control room immediately if they come across any mishap or faced with any emergency.
