Monsoon is here and so are the season related diseases. With monsoon comes dengue and to make sure necessary precautions are taken, a group of youngsters have stepped out to take protective measures for the diseases by creating awareness. The group, mostly consisting of girls and naming themselves as white army have been going around the city to test areas collected with water and let people know if that is dengue affected or not. They have been testing the water samples and informing people the ill effects of rain water accumulation. The self-help group in collaboration with a city-based newspaper took charge of this initiative. Dengue has been prevailing in the city for the past two months and the group made sure there aren’t any more cases of dengue. The group covered areas like Mangalwar peth , Shashtri Nagar, areas near Savitribai Phule Hospital, Shahu Mill Colony, Khumbhar galli and went in the houses located here to get the testing done. The Kolhapur Municipal Corporation also supported the cause.
