Six SRPF men arrested in Kolhapur for taking bribes

The head office of the IRB had organised an inter-division sports competition and 23 officials from Kolhapur were to take part in various disciplines. They all work with the Indian Reserve Battalion (IRB) of the SRPF stationed at Kolhapur Girish Gode, deputy superintendent of police, ACB said, "The complainant works as an assistant police inspector with the IRB. KOLHAPUR: Six police officials of the State Reserve Police Force ( SRPF ) were caught taking a bribe of Rs 40,000 from fellow officials in return for granting them permission to participate in the department's sports activities.The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) arrested assistant commandant Manohar Gawali, police inspector Madhu Sakat, assistant police inspector Ramesh Shirguppe, constable Pravin Koli and clerks Ananda Patil and Rajukumar Jadhav on Tuesday. According to the complainant, the accused demanded Rs 5,000 from every participant to allow them participate in the sporting events and had threatened to deploy them to maintain law and order and send their report to seniors stating that they were not obeying orders.
