Heavy rainfall in catchment areas fills Panchganga to brim, again

Sangli district will receive light to moderate rainfall for next week.Kolhapur district received average 32 mm rainfall in last 24 hours with Gaganbawada taluka receiving maximum 62 mm rainfall. Satara district is expected to receive heavy rainfall on Wednesday. The water level went up by four feet in last 24 hours.In Kolhapur district , the discharge of water from Radhanagari , Dudhganga, Warna, Tulsi and Kasari dams continues following the heavy rainfall in the catchment areas. On Tuesday morning, the water level at Rajaram KT weir was recorded at 30 feet 8 inches. KOLHAPUR: The Panchganga river has spread over its banks for the second time this monsoon season, owing to heavy rainfall in the catchment area of dams in the district.The river had spread over its bank for the first time on July 7.

The water level went up by four feet in last 24 hours.In Kolhapur district , the discharge of water from Radhanagari , Dudhganga, Warna, Tulsi and Kasari dams continues following the heavy rainfall in the catchment areas. A total of 15 KT weirs are under water and the water level of the rivers in the district was rising steadily.According to Kolhapur district administration officials, the district will receive normal to moderate rainfall from Tuesday. Sangli district will receive light to moderate rainfall for next week.Kolhapur district received average 32 mm rainfall in last 24 hours with Gaganbawada taluka receiving maximum 62 mm rainfall. The rainfall in other parts of the district was 5.75 mm in Hatkanangle, 3.14 mm in Shirol , 23.29 in Panhala , 54.33 mm in Shahuwadi , 47.83 mm in Radhanagari, 16.27 mm in Karveer, 25.29 mm in Kagal, 14.85 mm in Gadhinglaj, 42.80 mm in Bhudargad , 44.75 mm in Ajara and 49.83 mm in Chandgad taluka.In Satara district, the Koyna dam was filled up to 101.13 thousand million cubic feet (TMC) and water was being discharged at the rate of 18,600 cusecs from 11 am. Satara district is expected to receive heavy rainfall on Wednesday.
