Government not serious about Dabholkar Pansare murder probe N D Patil

KOLHAPUR: Veteran leader N D Patil lashed out at the state government on Monday over its failure in investigating the Dabholkar and Pansare murder cases. Govind Pansare and his wife Uma Pansare were shot at near their residence in Kolhapur on February 16, 2015. Govind Pansare, an outspoken rationalist, died of the bullet injuries five days after the attack. "The routine transfers of police officers and reshuffling of the officials involved in the investigation of Pansare murder case is one of the reason for halting the investigation process. "A delegation under his leadership met Kolhapur district collector Avinash Subhedar and questioned the government over the investigation done so far in these two cases.

KOLHAPUR: Veteran leader N D Patil lashed out at the state government on Monday over its failure in investigating the Dabholkar and Pansare murder cases."This is for the first time since Independence that investigating agencies are proving unproductive," he said, adding "We want a committed team of investigating officers to be given full-time charge of the investigation of the Pansare murder case and they should not be transferred regularly."A delegation under his leadership met Kolhapur district collector Avinash Subhedar and questioned the government over the investigation done so far in these two cases. Members of left-wing organisations also organised a demonstration outside the district collectorate on Monday as a part of their month-long agitation demanding speedy investigation of these cases."The routine transfers of police officers and reshuffling of the officials involved in the investigation of Pansare murder case is one of the reason for halting the investigation process. Every time we ask about the investigation, we get the same answer that they have progressed in the investigation," he said.Replying to Patil's query, Subhedar said that the investigation is being handled by state authorities and he would convey their message to the authorities concerned.
