Rain keeps water level steady, but more showers on cards

KOLHAPUR: The continuous rainfall in the catchment areas kept the water level in district's rivers steady on Tuesday. "The water level of the Panchganga remained steady for the third consecutive day. Water level of Panchganga river at Rajaram KT weir was 33 feet in the morning. While Kolhapur district received 17.69mm rainfall on Tuesday, 48 KT weirs remained under water. Satara district continued to receive heavy rainfall on Tuesday with the tourist destination of Mahabaleshwar receiving 41mm rain and Navja 49mm.In Kolhapur district, Gaganbawada taluka received the highest rainfall (38.5mm) on Tuesday.

KOLHAPUR: The continuous rainfall in the catchment areas kept the water level in district's rivers steady on Tuesday. Water level of Panchganga river at Rajaram KT weir was 33 feet in the morning. While Kolhapur district received 17.69mm rainfall on Tuesday, 48 KT weirs remained under water."The water level of the Panchganga remained steady for the third consecutive day. As per the India Meteorological Department officials, the region is likely to receive moderate to normal rainfall for the next few days," an official from the district collectorate said.According to the IMD, Kolhapur and Satara districts will receive light to moderate rainfall for the next few days, while Sangli district will receive light to scanty rainfall for the next week. Satara district continued to receive heavy rainfall on Tuesday with the tourist destination of Mahabaleshwar receiving 41mm rain and Navja 49mm.In Kolhapur district, Gaganbawada taluka received the highest rainfall (38.5mm) on Tuesday. The rainfall in other parts of the district was 4.25mm in Hatkanangle, 2.71mm in Shirol, 8.43mm in Panhala , 35.33mm in Shahuwadi , 29.67mm in Radhanagari , 8.54mm in Karveer, 11.43mm in Kagal, 8.71mm in Gadhinglaj, 24.8mm in Bhudargad , 14.25mm in Ajara and 25.67mm in Chandgad.Radhanagari dam having a capacity of 8.361 thousand million cubic feet is filled to its brim, while Koyna dam with a capacity of 106 TMC is having 101.35 TMC water. Total 23,587 cusecs water has been released from Koyna dam since Tuesday morning. The river meets Krishna river at Karad, which further passes through Sangli district before entering Karnataka state.
