Applications open for one month certificate course in Modi script

Kolhapur: The city-based Night College of Arts and Commerce will be offering a certificate course in the Modi lipi, a six-century-old script, which was earlier used to write Marathi.The 30-days certificate course will be held from September 10 to October 10. Further details are available on their official website. Those who wish to apply can contact Arun Shinde — 9421024055. Classes will be conducted between 6pm and 8pm. Candidates who have passed Class X are eligible to apply.The course has proved useful for the students of history as well as researchers working on the documents in the Maratha era.Kolhapur city has great historic tradition and learning the script will held one learn more about its historical importance as many of the documents from Maratha era are found in the Modi script, a circular from the Night College stated.The seats for the courses will be alloted on the first come first serve basis and those reserving their seats will get priority.

With detailed exposure to the lectures and practical, the candidates will be able to read documents from the Maratha era.Seminar on researchThe mechanical engineering department of the city-based Bharati Vidyapeeths College of Engineering will organized a seminar on research paper writing, patent filing process and paper presentation skills last week.Alex Gamberg from Ural Federal University, Russia, interacted with the students through video conferencing.During his interaction, he covered topics on how to select the topic for research or project, research paper writing skills, use of important websites, patent filing process, importance of Russian, American and Indian patent process, a press statement from the college stated.The college officials are also discussing a plan to sign a memorandum of understanding with the Ural Federal University, the statement added.Lecture by Kei Noda at SUKThe department of Technology of Shivaji University, Kolhapur hosted a seminar on Semiconductor film preparation by solution-based process toward electronic devices application and photoenergy last week.Kei Noda from Keio University delivered a lecture on the topic and also discussed the education pattern in the Japanese education system.Noda further said that Japan has lot of demand for engineers and Indian engineers can fulfil that demand.PG diploma in museologyThe Shivaji University, Kolhapur is inviting applications for a PG diploma course in Museology.The last date to fill in the application is September 7.
