Maratha faction plans new party

KOLHAPUR: A faction of the Maratha community has been thinking about launching a political party. "Another faction of the community objected to the idea of forming a political party statingit would not help advance the demands of the community. Every political party has failed to address our concerns. We will hold preliminary discussion on Wednesday after which we will tour across the state to put forth the idea to launch a political party before our community. The community received only assurances from the government.

KOLHAPUR: A faction of the Maratha community has been thinking about launching a political party. Leaders of the faction will meet here on Wednesday to discuss the strategy to launch the party.Members of the faction said no political party has fulfilled the demand for reservation for the community and, therefore, to mobilise the Marathas to press for their demand at higher levels there was a need for a foray into politics.Suresh Patil, founder of Maratha Kranti Sanghatana said, "Despite several rounds of rallies and discussions with the government, the issues afflicting the community have not been resolved. Every political party has failed to address our concerns. The community received only assurances from the government.
