Kolhapur: A 21-year-old woman was duped of her gold jewellery, worth Rs 90,000, by unidentified men on the pretext of polishing the jeweller.A case in this regard has been registered with Pethvadgaon police station. The complainant has been identified as Jayashree Patil, a resident of Padali road in Nave Pargaon area of the city.“The two unidentified men aged between 25 to 27 years approached Patil when she was busy at home on Tuesday morning. The duo told her that they are expert in polishing gold jewellery. Believing them she handed over 42 gram of gold jewellery worth Rs 90,000 to them for polishing. The suspects then told her the system of polishing the ornaments and asked her to bring a pressure cooker and some water from home. After she gave them the utensil, one of them poured water, gold jewellery and some powder. Then he asked Patil to remove the jewellery after half-an hour and left the area. When Patil checked the utensil after half-an hour, she found the gold jewellery missing. Realising that she has been conned, she lodged a complaint with us,” an officer attached with Pethvadgaon police station said.“We have registered a case against unidentified persons under section 420 of the Indina Penal Code and are searching for their whereabouts based on the description provided by Patil. We appeal people to come forward and register complaint with us if they have been conned by anyone in similar fashion,” he added.
