3 die of swine flu in city hospitals in 3 days

"Number of swine flu cases is being reported from other cities where the patients might have travelled. KOLHAPUR: A total of three people - two from the city and one from Ratnagiri district - admitted in city hospital have died of swine flu in last three days.A 60-year-old resident of Balaji Park and 55-year-old woman from Mangalwar Peth are the two citizens who died of swine flu. "The total number of confirmed patients who died of swine flu this year has reached 11 and the number is almost double for the remaining parts of the district. Both were admitted to private hospitals last week and were undergoing treatment.According to a civic official, a total of nine swine flu cases have been reported from Mangalwar Peth area and two have succumbed to death in last three months. The officials claim that three month ago, a person infected with the virus was reported for the first time during the current year.

"A 3-year-old girl from Ratnagiri district also died due to the H1N1 virus," a civic official said.A senior health official of the Kolhapur Municipal Corporation (KMC), requesting anonymity, said, "As per the latest information provided to us by the private hospitals, 35 patients infected with H1N1 virus and 29 suspected cases are undergoing treatment in these hospitals. We have found that number of cases has increased in last one month. We have appealed to the citizens to avoid going to crowded places as the virus is transferred through air. The teams of doctors have been set up to spread the awareness about the mode of infection and precautions to be taken to avoid infection."The total number of confirmed patients who died of swine flu this year has reached 11 and the number is almost double for the remaining parts of the district.
