Kolhapur: The minimum temperature in the city declined to one degree below normal at 17 degrees celsius on Wednesday with chill in the atmosphere for the whole day. Citizens were seen sporting sweaters, shawls and jackets, especially in the morning and evening.In neighbouring Sangli city, the mercury dropped to 13 degrees celsius, while Satara and Solapur cities the minimum temperature was at 14 degrees celsius.The regional meteorological centre in Mumbai said in its weather report that there was no large change in minimum temperature over the region. They were below normal over south Konkan-Goa, south central Maharashtra and Marathwada, above normal over north Gujarat and Saurashtra, appreciably above normal over Kutch and normal elsewhere.The continuous fall in temperature is making students preparing for their winter exams and annual functions take special precautions to avoid falling ill.Akshay Patil, a student said, “My semester exams are going on. After that we have to look for internship. Since it has started getting cold in the morning when I go to college, I ensure I put on extra warm clothes. We have already pulled out our woollen items at home.”
