Thieves decamp with valuables worth Rs 378 lakh

KOLHAPUR: The spate of house break-ins continues unabated in the city.Burglars targeted three houses and decamped with valuables worth Rs 3.78 lakh over the past few days in the jurisdiction of Shahupuri area of city. Unidentified men sneaked into the house of Santosh Krishnat Bharmal between 3.30 pm to 5.30 pm on November 13. A case against unidentified person under section 380 of IPC has been registered, said the police.

KOLHAPUR: The spate of house break-ins continues unabated in the city.Burglars targeted three houses and decamped with valuables worth Rs 3.78 lakh over the past few days in the jurisdiction of Shahupuri area of city. The burglars targeted two flats located adjacent the each other from a housing society at Mukta Sainik Vasahat area and decamped valuables worth Rs 2.32 lakh from these two flats.According to the police, Ajay Rangrao Chougule and Ajay Dattatraya Dongare had gone out for some work with their respective families on November 11. When Chougule returned home on the evening of November 12, he found locks of his flat broke.At the same time, Dongare also returned home to find his flat had been targeted by thieves. After they checked the valuables kept in their houses, they found that valuables worth Rs 1.67 lakh were stolen from Chougule’s house and valuables worth Rs 65,000 stolen from Dongare’s house. They later rushed to Shahupuri police station to lodge their complaints.“We have registered a case against unidentified persons under section 454 (Lurking house-trespass or house-breaking in order to commit offence punishable with imprisonment), 457 (Lurking house trespass or house-breaking by night in order to commit offence punishable with imprisonment) and section 380 (Theft in dwelling house) of IPC,” said an officer attached with Shahupuri police station.The police said they were gathering information if anyone had spotted any unidentified person roaming in the vicinity of the apartments when the incident took place.Another incident was reported from Kadamwadi area. Unidentified men sneaked into the house of Santosh Krishnat Bharmal between 3.30 pm to 5.30 pm on November 13. The suspects opened locker of a cupboard and decamped with valuables worth Rs 1.46 lakh from the house. The family members from house were at their neighbour’s house when the theft occurred. A case against unidentified person under section 380 of IPC has been registered, said the police.
