Man kills dad over extramarital affair

KOLHAPUR: A 30-year-old man has been arrested for allegedly murdering his father as he was upset about his extra-marital affair with a woman. "The duo brought the body home, kept it on a bed and pretended that Appasaheb died following a heart attack. We sent the body for post mortem and arrested the duo," he added Someone informed us about the incident and we rushed to the spot," said a police officer attached with Gadhinglaj police station. Appasaheb, however, died while the duo were bringing him back home on their motorcycle.

His uncle has also been arrested for allegedly helping him destroy evidence.The suspect - Somgonda Desai , a resident of Nul village in Gadhinglaj taluka - has confessed to have killed his father Appasaheb as he was fed up over his affair, said police.The suspect's uncle, Babasaheb Bhimgonda Patil (50), a resident of Mugali, Gadhinglaj taluka, helped him in destroying evidence, added police.A local court has remanded both the suspects in police custody for seven days.According to police, Appasaheb was allegedly in a relationship with a woman from the village. His family members, including his wife and son Somgonda, used to frequently quarrel with him over the issue.On November 18, Somgonda called Babasaheb Patil to his home to resolve the issue. The argument turned violent and Somgonda allegedly thrashed Appasaheb with a stick, leaving him injured in the head and on other parts of the body.Somgonda and his uncle then took him to a nearby government hospital, where he was given first aid and released. Appasaheb, however, died while the duo were bringing him back home on their motorcycle."The duo brought the body home, kept it on a bed and pretended that Appasaheb died following a heart attack. They started preparing for the last rites. Someone informed us about the incident and we rushed to the spot," said a police officer attached with Gadhinglaj police station."When we checked the body, we found injury marks and stitches on the head. We sent the body for post mortem and arrested the duo," he added
