Lok Sabha polls: 48 cops likely to be transferred

Kolhapur: As the government has initiated preparations to conduct the Lok Sabha elections, around 48 police officers from Kolhapur district are likely to be transferred to other districts.“As per the routine procedure, we are busy preparing the list of the police officials and other staff that belong to Kolhapur district and have also been posted in Kolhapur district. They have been asked to keep a watch on the criminals on police record as well as the anti-social elements from their respective jurisdictions, to ensure that the law and order situation is not affected in the future,” added the officer.

The list of such officials will be prepared and they will be transferred to other districts before the forthcoming elections,” said a senior police officer.“Apart from this, there are a number of officers who are about to complete their tenure of either two years or four years of service as per their post in Kolhapur district and they are also liable to be transferred from Kolhapur before the elections. We are busy preparing the list of such officials,” he said.“The number of officials that are likely to be transferred may go up to 48. New officials will immediately replace these officials and there will not be any law and order problem during this shuffle of the officials. The officers to be transferred include one deputy superintendent of police, two police inspectors, 8 assistant police inspectors and 36 police sub-inspectors,” he said.“We have taken up the review of the law and order situation in the district and have issued instructions to the concerned police officials to increase their presence on the roads and streets in their respective jurisdiction to ensure that there is no untoward incident before, during and after the elections. They have been asked to keep a watch on the criminals on police record as well as the anti-social elements from their respective jurisdictions, to ensure that the law and order situation is not affected in the future,” added the officer.
