Duo snatches gold chain worth Rs 47000 from woman

Kolhapur: An unidentified suspect snatched the gold chain of a 50-year-old woman worth Rs47,000 near Ruikar colony on Wednesday morning before fleeing on a motorcycle that was being driven by another suspect.According to police, this is a new modus-operandi of the chain snatchers. The suspect duo fled the crime scene on that bike,” an officer attached with Shahupuri police station said.“This is a new modus operandi. A case has been registered against unidentified people under section 392 of the Indian Penal Code,” he said.

They follow their target on foot and later snatch the gold chain, before fleeing on a motorcycle that is parked around the spot.The complainant — Rajashree Dipak Patil, a resident of Ruikar colony — has lodged a complaint at Shahupuri police station.“Patil had gone to attend a programme organised at a temple in Ruikar colony. At 8.45 am, when she was returning home an unidentified man started following her. After walking for some distance, the man snatched the gold chain that Patil was wearing. Before Patil could realise what has happened, the suspect ran towards the main road where a mask-wearing motorcyclist was waiting for him. The suspect duo fled the crime scene on that bike,” an officer attached with Shahupuri police station said.“This is a new modus operandi. We suspect that the chain snatchers may now use this method of snatching gold chain from the citizens. A case has been registered against unidentified people under section 392 of the Indian Penal Code,” he said.
